‘’A teenager’s life in Madrid’’

Hello fellow students! For a long time now I have been dreaming about a trip to Madrid. Madrid is the capital city of Spain, with a population of 3.2 million people.

Madrid’s culture is one that seems to emphasize living and leisure over hard work, yet it its history has seen it produce some of Europe’s most awe-inspiring artworks and buildings. Here are just a few of the best places to visit in Spain’s capital.

1.       Plaza de Espana

It is a big square where a huge statue of Miguel de Cervantes presides over those of his characters Don Quixote and Sancho Panza

2.       Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

If you are a football fan you can tour the Santiago Bernabeu, home of Real Madrid, visit the dressing rooms, meet the team players and marvel at the club’s huge trophy cabinet

3.            Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia

One of the foremost collections of 20^th and 21^st century Spanish art, with highlights such as Picasso’s Guernica

4.       Museo del Prado

This museum exhibits the world’s most extensive collection of Spanish art from the 12^th to 19^th century'

5.       Palacio Real

Madrid’s most famous landmark and one of Europe’s most spectacular places, build from Spanish marble and surrounded by courtyards and gardens.

6.       Plaza Mayor

A place where you can see amazing bullfights, carnivals, and also some of Madrid’s best restaurants.

7.        Gran Via

The pulse of Madrid’s nightlife hence its nickname. The Spanish Broadway

8.       Circulo de Bellas Artes

This gallery’s rooftop terrace offers stunning panoramas of the whole city! The best view of Madrid by far!

9.       Parque del Buen Retiro

The biggest green corner of Madrid where, you can find statues, fountains, floral features offer the city’s most scenic respite for joggers, picnickers, boaters.

Buses and the Metro are reliable, well connected and cheap. Visitors might find it easier to purchase a Madrid’s tourist travel pass, valid on all trains and buses for 1, 3, 5, 7 days. Taxis are also affordable to most European cities, and well regulated too

A week in Madrid is enough time to explore the city.
